How subscription billing cycles work

Flexphon attempts to collect recurring payments from subscribers 3 days before the billing cycle expires. Billing cycles can be monthly or yearly.

Monthly Billing Cycles

Recurring plans always start on the same day of the month. If the initial billing cycle started on the 31st, Flexphon eventually adjusts the billing cycle to the 1st of the month. If the initial billing cycle started on the 29th or 30th, Flexphon adjusts the billing cycle to the 1st of the month on the following February.

Example: Monthly recurring payments due and collected on the 31st

If the subscriber signs up on Thursday, July 31, the billing cycles will be billed as follows:

  • billing cycle 1: July 31 - August 30
  • billing cycle 2: August 31 - September 30 billed on August 27
  • billing cycle 3: October 1 - October 31 billed on September 27
  • billing cycle 4: November 1 - November 31 billed on October 28
  • and so on

Example: Monthly recurring payments due and collected on the 30th

If the subscriber signs up on Tuesday, December 30, the billing cycles will be billed as follows:

  • billing cycle 1: December 30 - January 29
  • billing cycle 2: January 30 - February 28/29 billed on January 26
  • billing cycle 3: March 1 - March 31 billed on February 25/26
  • billing cycle 4: April 1 - April 30 billed on March 28
  • and so on

Yearly Billing Cycles

Recurring plans always start on the same month and day each year. If the initial billing cycle started on February 29th of a leap year, Flexphon adjusts the billing cycle to February 28th or March 1st the following year.

Example: Yearly recurring payments due and collected on the February 29th

If the subscriber signs up on Friday, February 29th, 2012, the billing cycles will be billed as follows:

  • billing cycle 1: February 29, 2012 - February 28, 2013
  • billing cycle 2: March 1, 2013 - February 28, 2014 billed on February 25, 2013
  • billing cycle 3: March 1, 2014 - February 28, 2015 billed on February 25, 2014
  • and so on
